Middle and high school students
showcase singing talents

HOULTON, Maine -- Middle and
high school students from around
Aroostook County showed off
their singing chops March 3 at the
District 7 Vocal Jazz Festival at the
Houlton Community Arts Center.
Seven groups participated in this
year’s festival featuring jazz and show
choirs from both middle and high
schools from Presque Isle, Woodland,
Caribou, Easton and Houlton.

27, for middle schoolers and Saturday,
March 28, for high schoolers at
Lawrence High School. “It’s always
exciting to see what other schools put
together for an event like this,” said
RSU 29 music director Kevin Mania.
“We have some truly gifted teachers
that can pull out the best in our
County kids.”
Mark Scally and Sharyn Walker were
judges for the festival. Both have been
past teachers in Houlton.
