meet at the Chamber office to prepare the mailing for bulk service, which involves sending the mailing according to zip codes.
Unfortunately, we had printed off the labels in alphabetical order! It was a very long night for a few of us as we had to sort all
the pieces back into zip code order. It was certainly memorable, though!” I have heard many comments about this event over
the years and now laugh that it was “such a time”. Many lessons were learned that night and over the years, the process prosses
has changed considerably. It is still mailed by zip code, but the labels are printed out in a different order.
Nancy feels the HHSAA future is unlimited! The Endowment Fund is nearing $1.5 million and growing. Thanks to the
continued support of HHSAA members, our financial assistance to the school can continue. Nancy points out that HHSAA
has gotten this far because of the extremely generous alums and the team of dedicated volunteers. The board continues to
discuss ways to improve and asks for alums to continue to support, engage in and volunteer to help direct the HHSAA vision
into the future. Nancy states there are many ways for alums to engage and volunteer within HHSAA. One specific example
is several classes are still in need of class reps. Class reps simply gather news for the newsletter twice a year, and Nancy states
“it is not as intimidating as some think it is,” and she is experienced as she has been her class rep from the start. “It is often a
couple of phone calls or emails to get some information from a classmate to include in the column,” Nancy says. There is the
Newsletter Committee who is always looking for people to type things for the newsletter or provide pictures or write an article
about many topics concerning the alums. The Fundraising Committee is always looking for fresh and new ideas to raise money
or for projects to help support. The Reunion Planning Committee is a wonderful, busy group this year with the 2020 Multi-
Class reunion coming up. There are often opportunities to work at events to greet and direct. Even just reading and sharing the
newsletter with others to see what is going on with our alma mater and fellow alums; this keeps people informed. Of course,
for those who are able, a contribution to the Alumni Association is always a great way to show your support of HHSAA.
Are you wanting to get involved more? Nancy encourages people to “test the waters” and get familiar with the organization by
participating on a committee or assisting at an event. The upcoming 2020 Multi-Class reunion would be an ideal opportunity
to get involved. Maybe someone is thinking about maybe becoming a board member in the future? “Test the waters,” feel it
out. Watch for the next “Meet Your Board” articles in a future newsletters.

Dear Nancy and the HHS Alumni Association,
Thank you for your extreme generosity. It is an honor to receive a scholarship from
the school where my sister and both of my parents graduated. Your generosity
provides me great financial aid throughout college, and for this I am truly indebted.
Hopefully I will succeed in my program and one day be able to return the favor to the
association.
My deepest thanks,
Alex Wilde
