15th Annual Appeal Ends on a High

Note as the 16th Kicks Off

In the Spring ’19 newsletter I explained
the reason for an Annual Appeal and
touched briefly on the 15th Annual Appeal
that ended June 30, 2019.

The 15th Annual Appeal once again met
our goal of $50,000. We raised almost
$52,000 thanks to the generosity of you,
our alums.

As stated in an earlier article in this
newsletter, the funds raised help
the Association give out $76,000 in
scholarships to 32 worthy graduates of the
Class of 2019. This was an all time high as
most years the scholarship totals have been
in the $50,000 range!

In addition, the Association will be
using funds to help with a project at the
Performing Arts Center in the high school. An electronic board malfunctioned in the light system. The cost for a
replacement is about $24,000. This was not in the district’s budget for this year.
The Houlton Community Arts Center is the backbone of the community for musicals, plays, productions and
community events. The HHSAA Board of Directors thought this was a worthwhile project for the Association to
undertake. See more about this on page 22.

The 16th Annual Appeal for the 2019-2020 year kicked off in September. Please look over your appeal letter and
if you have not sent anything in yet, please do so. It is very easy. Simply fill out the tear off coupon on the bottom of
the letter and return it, with your contribution, in the self-addressed envelope that came with the letter.

If you have not given by the first of the year, you may very well be contacted by phone sometime in the next few
months. If called, please feel free to learn more about the workings of the Association from the caller and give to the
cause knowing it is going to help the next generation of HHS alums.

An easy and painless way to avoid the hassle of mailing in your donation or having someone call you about the
Annual Appeal is to give the gift that keeps on giving! Simply go on-line to the Association’s web-site – www.
houltonalumni.com. Click on Monthly Gift » Donate Online. You can make your annual gift with a recurring gift.
Support the Annual Fund with a recurring gift! Pick the amount you would like to be charged monthly and we'll
process the payment for you automatically! You will be charged monthly until you tell us, you no longer want to do
so.

It’s practically painless and means so much to the Association. For example, simply $5.00 per month is a $60 per
year contribution to the Association.

Please, won’t you think about going on-line and sign up for on-going monthly payments.
