        Test Your Memory

Hey, we are getting closer to a winner with this Test Your Memory.
        WE ASKED THESE QUESTIONS:

        1. Who is the gentleman?
        2. What honor was he bestowed?
        3. What year was this honor?
        4. What was his title?
        5. What did he teach?

        THE ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS:
Betsy Lane Mercer from the Class of 1962 took a stab at it. She has played Test Your Memory before and has done
really well. She told us that:
“The gentleman was Richard Dorr and the honor we were looking for was that he was HHS Teacher of the Year in 1965 and
        that he taught General Science.”
I can’t dispute the facts that Betsy told us as they might be very true for the Class of 1965, but here’s what we observed
based on something that happened in 1963 as we were trying to come up with something that happened in their
senior year that we could share as this summer they hosted their 60th Reunion.
Here is what we found in the 1963 North Star yearbook:
The gentleman was indeed Mr. Richard Dorr, and the 1963 yearbook was dedicated to him. Further research in the
yearbook told us that Mr. Dorr was Head of the Science Department and that he taught Chemistry.
Betsy, you were so close, and we haven’t had a winner for so long that we are going to give you two
gold stars for this Test Your Memory. Doesn’t get you a thing. No monetary prize, no parade in your
honor but simply bragging rights until the next Test Your Memory is solved. Congratulations!
