Class of 1975’s 50 Reunion
                                                                       th

Editor’s Note: I have helped many classes with their reunions from getting names for them, printing and mailing
announcement cards to classmates, to helping finalize details. I have never seen a class as organized and successful at
putting on a reunion than the Class of 1975. It was a phenomenal event. It, of course, was the result of an outstanding
planning committee that started work on the reunion a year or more before it was held. One of the most interesting
concepts was the financing of the event. The committee determined all the events that they wanted to hold and developed
expense numbers for everything. Most reunions charge a fee to the attendees for coming to the reunion---so much per
person. The planning committee for ’75 determined what the total cost was going to be for the event and asked for
contributions so that they could cover all the expenses. They raised enough money to not only cover all costs but ended
up with a pool of money left over from which they made contributions to causes they believed in with the main receivers
of their generosity being the Alumni Association and the Bridge to Hope. With all the events that they had, cost per ticket
would have been quite high and many might not have been able to come or at least take part in every event. Using the
contribution approach all that wanted to come to it could.
