HOULTON – History’s Hiding Place…


        … A Candid Look at Houlton’s Illustrious Past.

        Jason Howe, a 1996 graduate of Houlton High School, has a deep-rooted passion for local history
        inspired by his grandparents. Since 2015, he has been a dedicated member of the Aroostook
        County Historical and Art Museum board and now serves as its President. A resident of New
        Limerick, Jason lives with his three sons and works at Northern Maine Media as part of the WHOU
        team while managing the Temple Theatre in Houlton.




























        Taken 50 years ago during the United States Bicentennial   Captured at the Houlton International Airport in the
        festivities of 1976, this photo captures a patriotic    late 1950s, this photograph showcases a vibrant flower
        parade float passing through the corner of Court Street   garden lovingly maintained by members of the Houlton
        and Military Street in downtown Houlton. Proudly        Garden Club. The scene reflects a time when civic pride
        celebrating America’s 200th birthday, the float is framed   and community beautification flourished, with carefully
