                                  NEWS FROM THE NET

                                  By Fred Grant ’88

Hello from the Net! Did you know that Houlton has outstanding internet connectivity? I
dare say that it is probably better than most people have in much more urban environments.
Houlton benefits from a robust fiber connection that provides speeds of up to 1 Gig which
is available to both businesses and homes around the area. At WHOU, we are constantly
streaming and creating exceptionally large video data files and our ability to move them between
servers around the country takes us just a few seconds rather than several minutes or hours. This incredible speed is provided
by Houlton's very own Pioneer Broadband which is owned by Houlton alum Chris Anderson ‘81. Our internet is just one
piece of why living in Houlton is so spectacular. If you get a moment, you should take a stroll through the internet and visit an
online project dedicated to Houlton that will bring back memories of your time at HHS. While the website will continue to
be a work in progress, you can peek at this beautiful site created by County Micro (a Houlton business) at UpgradeToHoulton.
com. If you cannot be here in person, at least you can visit us online to see what the town has been up to!

As always - please let me know if you have any questions about the alumni website and be sure to stop into WHOU when you
are in town. I always enjoy meeting and talking with alumni from all years. Until then be safe and I will see you on 'the net'!

        Take care,
        Fred
