Around Town, continued...

It’s been a beautiful Fall in the Shiretown. The foliage has been amazing
even though it’s not as bright as in years past. Our Downtown gardens
are still colorful. Farmers are wrapping up the potato harvest after a dusty
digging season. Camps have been closed and boats and wharves pulled.

Around town we have some fun activities taking place. Fred and Jason
pulled out the red carpet and a lot of young ladies got to walk the carpet
and get photographed before the Taylor Swift movie. The Eclipse movie is
back for those who missed it the first time. We’ve got a Firehouse Fall Feast,
the monthly Ag Museum supper, a Historic Cemetery tour and the Bridge
to Hope Walk. There are big plans for a full day of activities Downtown for
Halloween. And of course planning is underway for everyone’s favorite
        event-the Festival of Trees.

Good things continue to happen in our town. Thank you to everyone who
pitches in to help organize and carry out these activities.

The big event of September was the premiere of the film “A Moment in the
Sun”. We’ve all been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Tom and Mia’s vision
of Houlton’s preparation for the Eclipse and the stories of the people they
                                                   followed during their filming here.

The Temple Theatre pulled out all the stops and the weather cooperated
to give us a perfect evening for the red carpet event which was enjoyed by
everyone. There was a photographer present to capture all the people who
dressed up and walked the red carpet and stopped to capture their special
moment. Attendees were treated to popcorn courtesy of F. A. Peabody,
and in both theaters there was a large selection of food provided by the
Gateway Ambassadors, and a cash bar.

Watching the film together was a fun experience with the audience
cheering whenever someone local appeared on screen. It was fun to
relive the excitement of Eclipse day. After the film, there was a question
and answer session with the filmmakers followed by a VIP reception.
                                                   The day we had long
                                                   anticipated was everything
                                                   we expected and more. It
was a very special night for
                                                   Houlton.
