TEST YOUR
MEMORY
Hi Folks:
Well, last fall’s issue of “Test Your Memory”,
we thought, was easy, but only one person
sent in their sleuth work.
We are sure that this “Mystery Photo” will be extremely hard and we might not even have any folks take a guess.
While the questions are easy, the answers are hard.
Put on your detective caps, do some digging into local history and become Sherlock Holmes and give us your best
guess.
What was this structure?
What year was this taken? (Hint: Bud Berry, Shirley Titcomb, Malcolm Berman, John Mooers)
What was the result of this fi re?
Betsy Lane Mercer ‘62 has played our Trivia Quiz several
times and she once again made a stab at this photo.
We wanted to know “what year was the photo taken?”;
“what was this facility?” and “where was this facility
located?”
She said the year was circa 1950. e facility was the
Atlas Plywood Mill and it was located on North Street on
the banks of the Meduxnekeag River.
ANSWER
e picture was taken in 1958. It was indeed the Atlas Plywood Mill. It was located on North Street just across the bridge
heading north from Union Square. It was where the present TD Bank is located.
Betsy, we give you the for this quiz.
Don’t forget to play this issue’s “Test Your Memory!”
