INDIVIDUAL WIN

A week after the team win, Houlton’s Nick Brewer was crowned co-champion in the State Class C
individual golf championship at Natanis Golf Course.

Brewer, a senior, shot a 3-over-par 75 to fi nish tied with Kents Hill’s Mitch Tario for the Class C title. The
win came on the heels of the team championship for Houlton.

For Brewer, fi nishing tied for fi rst in the individual
competition came as a bit of a surprise, even to
him. At the team championship the weekend prior,
        he shot an 82.

“It felt good to be in fi rst,” he said when
interviewed. “I didn’t realize that I could be in the
lead. I didn’t even really pay attention to my score.
I kind of just wrote the numbers down and didn’t
        think anything of it.”

But that all changed when he approached the 18th
        hole.

“It wasn’t until the last hole where I noticed a lot
of people watching me around the green I was
fi nishing on and I looked at my scorecard and State Individual Golf Co-Champ Nick Brewer ‘19 displays his trophy
actually counted my score and I was on track for a with his coach and proud grandfather, David Grant ‘67.
        75,” he said.

Brewer was not alone at the individual championships as fellow Shires Wyatt Harvey, Isaac Vega and
        Collin Moody also qualifi ed for the individual competition.  Harvey fi nished 10th with a 12-over-par 84;
        Moody tied for 12th with a 15-over-par 87; and Vega was 15th with a 20-over-par 92.
