60th Reunion
CLASS OF 1960
Linda St. Peter Reporting
Class of 1960
By Linda St. Peter '60
Editor’s Note: There may have been others, but this is the only report we received of a class having a class reunion this summer. Our hats go off to
this group of wonderful alums for their forward thinking of a joint real time and virtual reunion. Thanks for sending this information to share
with all--- Check page 48 for more photos.
Ten members of the class of 1960 gathered at the Houlton Country
Club on Saturday, August 22, 2020 for their 60th reunion.
Joanne Ivey Greenspan, Nancy McFadden Bridgham, Fred Putnam,
and Donna Mae Gildart joined by Zoom. Steve Bishop and Kevin
Cowperthwaite did not make the connection. We hope to have
more Zoom meetings in the future.
Sara greeted the group. Geneva and Linda read the 41 deceased
class members names (11 females and 30 males) and asked for
memories as we lit a candle for each. The memories that bubbled
up were delightful. Linda congratulated all present for making it
to age 78.9, the life expectancy for 2020. She told class members
about the Facebook website: You Know You Are From Houlton,
Maine if.... and recommended Barbara McGillicuddy Bolton’s book
“When They Took Dad Away”. John Dickison then told us about
his bank notes that he brought copies of to share.
LEFT to RIGHT: Sara Haskell Douglas, Steve Hall, Peter Caldwell,
Connie Anderson MacKinnon, John Dickison, Geneva Sharp Gove, Displays included our early years in kindergarten, elementary
Charlene Wolhaupter, Linda Leavitt St. Peter, and Terry St. Peter.
Dave Lawrence had to leave before the picture to take part in his schools: Longfellow, Bowdoin St, Pleasant St, Fair St, St Mary’s,
cousin’s memorial service. Intermediate, and Junior High. Several posters showed high
school activities and graduation. Pictures of all our reunions were on
a poster with pictures of those planning to attend the 60th in person
and on Zoom. Another poster showed all deceased classmates’ pictures,
comparisons of prices from 1942, 1960, & 2020 and some favorite
Pickles comic strips that make us laugh every day. We will keep the
posters intact for a future luncheon in Houlton once the coronavirus
scare is over.
Geneva initiated a senior picture give back and HHS newsletter swap.
Great idea as we all attempt to downsize.
We got returned mail from Charles Ingraham and Fred Grant. We have
been unable to find Nelson Pryor. We would also like more information
on the date of death for Judith Ballanger Dayment, Beverly Dobbins
Hughes, Waldo Stevens. Herb Ruth helped us find Olin Lane.
