ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

        RECEIVES SEVERAL

        BEQUESTS

        By Nancy Ketch ’82, President

The Alumni Association has committed the past 25 years to furthering our
mission to providing funds for scholarships and to support projects at the
High School. We conduct an Annual Fund Campaign and have built our
Endowment Fund to over $2 million. We have also encouraged individuals to
consider planned giving to remember the Association in their wills. Roger Rines '52 - From student to teacher
                                                                                   to major benefactor.
Over the last year, we have been the fortunate recipients of three bequests.
Michael A. Clark ’54 left the Alumni Association funds to present two scholarships to graduating seniors. One
award was presented in June to Isabel Cyr. This was a meaningful award because Isabel had participated in most
musical programs at Houlton High School throughout her years there and Mike was known for his love of music.

We have received an initial payment on a bequest from Judith Taton Mains ’63. The final payment is yet to come,
but we have already established a named scholarship in Judith’s name.

Roger Rines ’52 and a former teacher at Houlton High School left his entire estate to the Alumni Association. We
have already received approximately $300,000 from various funds and insurance policies he had. More funds are yet
to come in for the sale of Roger’s home and some additional accounts. We anticipate that Roger’s gift will be one of
the largest we have received and we look forward to begin awarding scholarships in his name in 2022.

We will provide an update on these amazing gifts when all is complete and give some additional background on
        these generous donors.

                                                   REUNION 2022 –

                                                   PLANNING IS UNDERWAY

After having to postpone the Multi-Class Reunion twice, we are
moving forward with planning for the event in July 2022. We are
remaining optimistic that the third time will be the charm and we
will all be able to gather for activities from July 4th through 9th.

Favorite activities from past events are being worked on including Class Windows, the Hospitality Center, Alumni
Variety Show, Golf Scramble and more. The event will conclude with the Gala on Saturday evening.

Anyone interested in working on the planning process is welcome to participate. You can E-mail Nancy Ketch at
nketch64@gmail.com to be added to the committee and get Zoom links for meetings. We also welcome any ideas
to make this the best celebration yet. We will also be celebrating our 25th Anniversary in 2022 so we want to make
this a memorable event. Stay tuned for more details.
